In a time when many are searching for hope, guidance and reassurance, emerging gospel artist Anfernee has released his debut single, “We Need You Now” — a heartfelt cry for God’s presence in the lives of those facing uncertainty.
Anfernee, 28, was born in Vryheid’s Lust and raised in Plaisance. While his official debut has just been released, he is not new to music. In 2024 and 2025, he appeared on gospel festival stages, quietly building his voice and presence in the gospel space.
He describes music as something deeply personal rather than just a performance. In November 2025, he featured on a song with Faith Corrica titled “You’re Still Good”. He is currently signed to Aspyre Music Group.
“Music is a part of my life,” he said in an interview with Ignite News.
His journey into gospel music is rooted in real struggle and healing. Anfernee shared that not finishing secondary education left him carrying emotional weight for years. In those moments, he said worship became his place of escape and restoration.
“I didn’t finish secondary education, and it was difficult. It dug a hole in my heart, and worshipping was how that emptiness was filled,” he said.
The single, “We Need You Now”, released on April 3, 2026, carries that same honesty. It is centred on dependence on God, especially in moments when life feels uncertain or overwhelming. Through its message, Anfernee hopes listeners are reminded that they are not alone in what they are facing.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the track, he said it came from a deep place of reflection and faith.
“This song came from recognising how much we truly need God in every aspect of our lives. It is not just about music; it is a message to remind people that they are not alone,” he said.
For Anfernee, the message goes beyond music. He carries a desire for something bigger for his country and its people.
“Pivoting and banging on receiving a revival for Guyana at large,” he said.
He also believes the message of Christ remains central in everyday life and in times of struggle.
“I believe the world needs Christ because He is the one that we need on a daily basis,” he said.
Despite his passion today, Anfernee admits the journey has not been easy. He spoke honestly about fear of rejection and questioning whether he would be accepted when he first stepped into ministry.
“Very often I asked myself, would I be accepted?” he said.
Still, he says worship continues to carry him through those doubts, shaping both his healing and his purpose.
Looking ahead, Anfernee says this is only the beginning of his musical journey, with more music expected soon.
“Expect new music soon,” he said.
With “We Need You Now”, Anfernee steps forward not just as a new artist, but as a voice shaped by struggle, faith and a desire to bring hope to others.
