A Guyana Police Force corporal has been charged with a corruption-related offence, authorities said.
Akeem Semple, 30, of Friendship, East Coast Demerara, appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, where he was charged with engaging in a corrupt transaction with an agent, contrary to Section 105(2)(a) of the Summary Jurisdiction (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:02.
The offence was allegedly committed on January 13, 2026, at the Non Pareil Police Outpost.
Semple pleaded not guilty to the charge and was released on self-bail. The matter was adjourned to April 28, 2026.
