Relatives of 16-year-old Aarif Azeez of Lot 28 Adventure say they suspect foul play in his death after his body was recovered following a jet skiing incident at Hot and Cold Lake, Sand Pit/Red Village, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam).
His sister, Malika Azeez, said the teen’s body bore multiple injuries, including a broken foot and head trauma, which she described as “baffling.” While reports indicate he fell from a jet ski, the family questions the severity of the injuries, with Malika suggesting he may have been beaten.
Family members said Aarif left home on Easter Monday with a cousin and acquaintances and was expected back by 15:30h. Concern grew after his location was traced to Onderneeming.
Police said Aarif, a student of Madina Academy, had been jet skiing with four others when his jet ski reportedly ran low on fuel. He was later seen moving in a zigzag pattern before falling into the water about 50 feet from shore.
Authorities said several persons were questioned, but no one is in custody. A post-mortem examination is expected to determine the cause of death as investigations continue.
