A sergeant has been placed in custody as the Guyana Police Force’s Office of Professional Responsibility investigates an alleged assault involving police ranks at the Anna Regina Police Station in Region Two.
The incident occurred on Friday at about 00:10 hrs, according to preliminary reports.
Investigators said a female rank was allegedly assaulted during the incident at the station, while another female rank was also reportedly threatened.
The matter was reported to senior command in the region, following which the sergeant was arrested and taken into custody pending further investigations.
The female rank was escorted to a medical facility, where she was examined by a doctor.
Statements are being taken, and investigations are ongoing, police said.
