A 55-year-old supervisor was found dead inside her West Coast Demerara home in what police are treating as a suspected murder, after relatives discovered her motionless body late Thursday evening, authorities said.
SurujDai Kahriu, called “Sharda,” was found between 16:25 hrs and 22:40 hrs at her Cornelia Ida residence after one of her two sons returned home and raised the alarm, police said.
Her other son, a 24-year-old construction worker who also lived at the address, was later seen inside the home and taken into custody.
Police said officers processing the scene observed marks of violence on the body.
CCTV cameras in the vicinity are expected to be reviewed as investigators continue probing the circumstances surrounding the death.
The body has been taken to Ezekiel Funeral Home, pending a post-mortem examination.
The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
