MV Ma Lisha to sail Georgetown-Kumaka route on Tuesday

The MV Ma Lisha will sail from the Kingston Goods Wharf in Georgetown to Kumaka, Region One, on Tuesday, the Transport and Harbours Department announced.
The vessel is scheduled to depart at 3:00pm, with its return voyage from Kumaka to Georgetown set for Tuesday, 11 August, at 3:00pm.
The revised schedule comes as residents continue to await completion of works at the Port Kaituma wharf, which was originally built to accommodate the ferry.
Public Works Minister Juan Edghill said the vessel had not yet begun operating to Port Kaituma, as engineers were forced to undertake corrective work after sections of the newly constructed wharf were affected by ground movement during construction.
Those unforeseen structural issues prevented the facility from being commissioned as planned, delaying the vessel’s deployment on its intended route, Edghill said.
The MV Ma Lisha, acquired to strengthen marine transportation between Georgetown and Region One, is expected to assume the Port Kaituma service once the remaining remedial works at the wharf are completed and the facility is ready to safely accommodate the vessel.
