Chatterjee appointed chair of Canada-Guyana Chamber of Commerce

The Canada-Guyana Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) has appointed Lilian Chatterjee as chair of its board of directors, following the conclusion of its 2025 annual general meeting.

Chatterjee, a former Canadian high commissioner to Guyana, will lead a newly constituted board that the chamber says brings broad experience and expertise aimed at deepening trade and investment ties between the two countries, a release said.

The board also includes Surendra Persaud as co-chair, Winston Kassim as honorary co-chair for Canada, Anand Beharry as honorary co-chair for Guyana, Vishnu Doerga as secretary, and Suraj Mattai as treasurer.

Fareed Amin, former deputy minister in the Government of Ontario, will continue as managing director.

The CGCC said the appointments reflect its commitment to strengthening bilateral economic relations, supporting private sector collaboration, and promoting inclusive, sustainable development.

The chamber thanked outgoing board members for their service and said the new leadership will support its efforts to expand strategic programming and policy engagement.
