The Ministry of Home Affairs has confirmed the deportation of seven nationals from the US on Tuesday in connection with a range of criminal offences, including sexual assault, aggravated assault, and illegal entry.

The deportees include individuals convicted of grand larceny, assault, domestic violence, and immigration violations, according to a statement issued by the ministry. Specific charges include one count each of grand larceny, assault, aggravated assault, and illegal entry, as well as two counts of sexual assault and one case involving both assault and domestic violence.

While the cases have already entered the public domain, authorities reiterated the serious consequences of criminal conduct and violations of immigration law abroad.

“The Ministry takes this opportunity to remind all Guyanese nationals of the serious consequences associated with unlawful conduct and breaches of immigration laws while residing abroad,” the statement said.

Citizens were urged to use only legal and authorised channels for migration, employment, education, and travel.

The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to national security and international cooperation on law enforcement and migration matters.

“We continue to work closely with international partners to manage migration and law enforcement matters in the best interest of the country and its people,” the ministry said.
