New Wismar phase one housing development nears halfway mark, families prepare to move in

Construction of the New Wismar Phase One housing scheme in Region 10 is progressing steadily, with infrastructure works now 49 per cent complete.

More than 500 families allocated residential lots are preparing to take up occupancy in the coming months, as the government advances its housing agenda in the region, a release from the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) said.

Housing and Water Minister Collin Croal, accompanied by technical staff including engineers and contractors, provided an update to prospective homeowners during a virtual briefing. The session offered allottees a visual overview of the layout and key features of the developing community.

Croal said he was pleased with the pace of the works and urged residents to remain engaged by monitoring progress on-site.

Located approximately one mile from the existing Wisroc Housing Scheme, the New Wismar development is accessible via a 12-mile stretch of the Wisroc/Rockstone Road, which runs along its south-eastern boundary.

The housing scheme is being developed with a focus on sustainability and modern urban planning. It will include green recreational spaces, a dedicated bus terminal, and reserved land for schools, religious centres, and security facilities, according to the ministry.
