Two prominent Muslim scholars from Region Two — Shaykh Faoud Mohamed and Moulana Yunus McLennan — have thrown their support behind President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali’s bid for a second term, praising his leadership, vision, and service to all Guyanese.

During a press conference at the Anna Regina Masjid on Sunday, the religious leaders stressed that their endorsement was rooted in principles and values rather than political alignment.

Shaykh Faoud Mohamed described President Ali as “a leader with a clear vision, always striving to serve the best interests of his people.” He hailed the President as “the people’s president,” known for listening to concerns and working tirelessly to improve the lives of citizens.

Citing the Qur’anic verse — “Is the reward for good anything but good?” — Shaykh Mohamed said the President’s sincerity and commitment in governance reflect the highest ideals of service and leadership.

Moulana Yunus McLennan echoed these sentiments, urging voters to focus on qualities that unite rather than divide. “We must respect the opinions of all citizens and their political choices, fostering an environment of understanding and collaboration,” he said.

Both leaders called on Guyanese to support Dr. Ali at the upcoming polls, expressing confidence that his continued leadership would keep the nation on a steady course of progress and prosperity.
