Police have destroyed marijuana valued at more than $571 million during a raid in the Wiruni Savannahs, , where officers also seized an unlicensed shotgun.
The operation, carried out by the force’s Narcotics Branch early Tuesday morning, uncovered an eight-acre plot being prepared for cultivation, along with a makeshift camp and drying area, authorities said in a statement.
Inside the camp, police found about 1,400 pounds of dried cannabis, which was set on fire along with the structure. Officers also discovered a 12-gauge shotgun without a serial number and nine matching cartridges, which were submitted for ballistic testing.
No arrests were reported, and the exercise concluded without incident.
