An orthopaedic technician has been handed over to police in Guyana after allegedly recording and leaking a video of social media personality Lolita “Lola Doll” Callendar inside the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation’s (GPHC) Emergency Department, the hospital said on Thursday.
The footage, which circulated widely on social media, showed Callendar in a vulnerable state while receiving urgent treatment after a recent shooting.
GPHC said the worker, who was not rostered for duty at the time, was identified through an internal probe. The case is now being pursued under Guyana’s cybercrime laws.
The hospital reiterated that video recording and photography are strictly prohibited without management approval, calling the breach a violation of patient privacy and professional ethics. Officials issued an apology to Callendar and her relatives and pledged tighter monitoring to prevent future incidents.
