Demerara Bank will launch a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Revolving Programme on Saturday at its corporate office, setting aside $10 million to support Guyanese start-ups through a Shark Tank-style competition.

The initiative, called the Dream Build Lead (DBL) Innovation Tank Programme, will provide non-repayable grants of up to G$1 million each for ten start-ups. Entrepreneurs will pitch their ideas before a live judging panel as part of the programme’s selection process.

The launch will outline the programme’s structure, benefits, and application process. Senior executives and partners are expected to speak on the programme’s vision and its role in strengthening Guyana’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The event will also feature keynote remarks from the management team, media engagement opportunities, and networking sessions for business leaders, entrepreneurs, and community development partners.

Organisers said the programme aims to lower barriers for start-ups struggling to access financing while promoting sustainability, ethical practices, and mentorship.

“This launch represents more than just a financing program. It is a platform for innovation, creativity, and sustainable growth. We want to give entrepreneurs the tools they need to succeed and in turn, empower communities across Guyana,” said the bank’s Chief Executive Officer.
