Dr. Martin Pertab has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA). He was officially welcomed to the agency by Director of Operations, Denise King-Tudor, along with other senior officials, who presented him with a special token to mark the occasion.
Dr. Pertab is an accomplished professional with extensive expertise in finance, economics, and public policy, complemented by significant experience in the public service. He began his career in 2010 as a Financial Analyst at the Ministry of Housing and Water, before serving as Housing Economist at the Ministry of Communities from 2016 to 2018.
In 2020, he was appointed Senior Petroleum Economist at the Ministry of Natural Resources, and most recently, from 2022 to 2025, he served as Director of the Local Content Secretariat within that ministry.
Academically, Dr. Pertab holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from the University of Cienfuegos, Cuba; a Master of Science Degree in Economics from New Mexico State University, United States; and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland.
The CH&PA expressed confidence that under Dr. Pertab’s leadership, the agency will continue to advance its mandate of providing affordable housing and promoting sustainable community development for all Guyanese.
