The U.S. Embassy in Guyana has announced that its Facebook account will not be updated regularly until full operations resume, with the exception of urgent safety and security information.
“Due to the lapse in appropriations, this Facebook account will not be updated regularly until full operations resume, with the exception of urgent safety and security information,” the Embassy said in a statement on Facebook.
“At this time, scheduled passport and visas services in the United States and at U.S. Embassies and Consulates overseas will continue during the lapse in appropriations as the situation permits. We will not update this account until full operations resume, with the exception of urgent safety and security information. For information on our services and operating status, visit travel.state.gov.”
The announcement comes as the U.S. federal government experiences a shutdown due to a lapse in funding.
For Guyanese citizens and visitors, this means the Embassy will share only essential information, while regular updates and routine communications will be limited.
Officials advise anyone planning travel to the U.S. or seeking visa or passport services to check travel.state.gov for current operating hours and service availability.
While non-urgent services may be delayed, the Embassy stressed that urgent safety and security information will continue to be shared.
