68-year-old pensioner robbed of firearm during armed robbery in Rasville

A 68-year-old pensioner from Edinburgh Village, East Bank Berbice, was robbed of his licensed pump-action shotgun along with cash and other valuables on Tuesday evening in Rasville, Georgetown, police report.

According to preliminary information, the victim was driving through the area at around 5:50 PM when he was intercepted by two men on a motorcycle, one of whom was armed.

The suspects forced the pensioner to stop before taking his firearm and other belongings, then fled the scene.

Officers from the East La Penitence Police Outpost, led by a sergeant, responded promptly.

No injuries were reported. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and questioning witnesses to track the suspects.

The Guyana Police Force has confirmed that the matter is under active investigation and is urging anyone with information to come forward.
