Police are investigating an alleged wounding involving Geraldy Angel, a male Venezuelan national, which occurred at around 00:30 hrs today (Sunday) at Best Village, West Coast Demerara.
According to Alianda Martin, a 20-year-old Venezuelan woman from Vreed-en-Hoop, she, her husband, and other family members were drinking at a bar in Best Village when an argument arose between her and her husband, Osmel Figuera.
The disagreement reportedly escalated as several other male Venezuelan nationals became involved in a fight. During the altercation, one individual, reportedly armed with a cutlass, struck the victim on his left thigh, causing injuries.
The victim was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was examined by a doctor, treated, and admitted. Authorities reported that his condition is stable.
Police questioned several individuals at the scene, but no useful information was obtained due to a language barrier. Efforts to locate the suspect have so far been unsuccessful.
