President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Kathy Smith, has encouraged local businesses participating in GuyExpo 2025 to do so with purpose and strategy, emphasising that the event offers far more than a venue for product display.
Scheduled for November 13–16, 2025, at the National Exhibition Centre in Sophia, the event will be held under the theme, “Transformation through Entrepreneurship and Innovation.”
Speaking at the official launch on September 29 at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, Smith described the theme as both timely and significant, noting that entrepreneurship and innovation are central to Guyana’s ongoing transformation.
Addressing prospective exhibitors, she urged them to take advantage of the event to strengthen their brands, expand networks, and pursue meaningful collaborations.
“GuyExpo is not just about selling a few products. It is about marketing your products and services, and expanding your customer base. It is about selling your business,” she emphasised.
Smith also re-established that GuyExpo has always been a vital platform for business growth and collaboration.
“It is a platform for businesses to showcase their products and services. It is a space to connect, to network, and to build new supply chains and partnerships,” she said.
She noted that with the government’s investment in diversifying the economy and the transformative impact of the petroleum sector, opportunities for local businesses abound.
“Today, Guyana’s business landscape is shifting. The petroleum industry has raised the bar. Businesses are innovating—not only to meet growing demand—but to satisfy new requirements and compliance standards. This is transformation in action, and it is happening within our private sector,” she said.
Smith also commended the Government of Guyana for its continued investment in local enterprise development and reaffirmed GCCI’s commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen the private sector and enhance national growth.
