Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Priya Manickchand, emphasized this morning that improving Georgetown goes far beyond sanitation and physical upkeep, as she met with the Mayor and Councillors of the Mayor and City Council to discuss strategies for enhancing the city’s image and livability.

“It’s more than just sanitation,” Minister Manickchand said. “It’s how we welcome people and treat people. It’s how they feel when they come into our city.”

She highlighted that creating a vibrant and welcoming capital requires a holistic approach, one that promotes civic pride, hospitality, and respect in all aspects of city life—from streets and markets to public services for residents and visitors.

The meeting underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring that Georgetown is not only clean and organized but also a city where people feel valued and welcomed, reflecting a broader vision of urban development and citizen engagement.
