Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has asserted its dominance at the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Annual Athletics Championship, leading the competition as the event enters its penultimate day at the GDF Ground, Camp Ayanganna.
DHQ has racked up an impressive 111.50 points, putting them well ahead of the competition. Base Camp Ayanganna follows in second place with 62 points, while the Coast Guards sit in third with 51 points. Fourth Engineer Battalion and First Infantry Battalion are tied for fourth position on 42 points. The 31st Special Forces Squadron and the 21st Artillery Company are in fifth place with 40.50 points.
Wednesday, October 8, concluded the second day of the championship, which featured 34 events. Base Camp Stephenson currently occupies sixth place with 36 points, followed by the Guyana National Reserve in seventh on 28 points. Third Infantry Battalion is eighth with 26 points, while Training Corps rounds out the field with 18 points.
The championship continues today at the same venue, with the finals scheduled for Friday, when the multi-day event will conclude.
