Elections for Regional Chairpersons and Vice Chairpersons have concluded across nine of Guyana’s ten administrative regions, with the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development confirming the newly elected officials.
The results are as follows:
Region One (Barima-Waini): Mr. Brentnol Ashley has been re-elected as Regional Chairman and Mr. Paul Pierre as Regional Vice Chairman.


Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam): Mr. Devin Mohan has been elected as Regional Chairman and Mr. Humace Oodit as Regional Vice Chairman.


Region Three (Essequibo Islands–West Demerara): Mr. Sheik Mohamed Ishan Ayube has been re-elected as Regional Chairman and Ms. Anjanie Narine as Regional Vice Chairwoman.

Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica): Mr. Clemsford Belgrave has been elected as Regional Chairman and Mr. Deoraj Nauth as Regional Vice Chairman.


Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice): Mr. Ricardo Dwain Phillips has been elected as Regional Chairman and Mr. Kleon Lindey as Regional Vice Chairman.


Region Six (East Berbice–Corentyne): Mr. Junior Basant has been elected as Regional Chairman and Mr. Sahid Khan as Regional Vice Chairman.


Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni): Mrs. June Shondelle J. Shurland-Gittens has been elected as Regional Chairwoman and Mr. Alden Christopher Marslowe as Regional Vice Chairman.


Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni): Ms. Tarcellia John has been elected as Regional Chairperson and Ms. Samantha John as Regional Vice Chairperson.


Region Nine (Upper Takatu–Upper Essequibo): Ms. Vania Albert has been elected as Regional Chairwoman and Mr. Daniel Aguilar as Regional Vice Chairperson.


Meanwhile, in Region 10 (Upper Demerara–Upper Berbice), the election for Regional Chairman ended in a deadlock between A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) nominee Dominique Blair and We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) candidate Mark Goring, each securing nine votes.
The tie now places the final decision in the hands of Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Priya Manickchand, who will determine the outcome in accordance with the Municipal and District Councils Act.
