Police investigating armed robbery at Annandale — victim shot, robbed of phone and bag

Police are investigating an alleged armed robbery committed on a 30-year-old autobody workman of Non Pariel, East Coast Demerara, who was shot and robbed by two men early this morning, Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Annandale, East Coast Demerara.

The victim was reportedly relieved of a Samsung S9 cellular phone valued at $40,000 and a haversack valued at $5,000, which contained personal documents. The suspects, both described as identifiable males of African descent, were on a motorcycle (registration number unknown), and one was armed with a handgun.

Investigations revealed that the victim and several others were attending the wake of the late Eagon Williams in Annandale when the incident occurred around 00:05 hrs.

According to police reports, the victim had left the gathering to urinate a short distance away when he noticed the two men approaching from an eastern direction. As he attempted to run back toward the wake house, the suspects caught up with him, held him at gunpoint, and demanded money. When the victim resisted, the armed suspect shot him once in his right thigh, causing him to fall.

The perpetrators then took his haversack containing his phone and documents before fleeing the scene on their motorcycle.

Residents attending the wake rendered assistance and took the injured man to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where he was admitted and scheduled for surgery.

Police investigations are ongoing.
