All four turbines for Wales Gas-to-Energy project to be installed by December

By the end of December, all four gas turbines for the Wales Gas-to-Energy project are expected to be installed, signalling major progress in one of Guyana’s most ambitious energy developments.

President Dr. Irfaan Ali visited the project site on Friday night, where he was briefed on the ongoing works and witnessed the final concrete pour for the foundation of the fourth turbine.

Project engineers informed the Head of State that a 24-hour work schedule is now in effect, with plans to double the engineering and labour force in the coming weeks to accelerate construction. By January, the majority of the project’s equipment is expected to be on site, as the government pushes toward completing the facility next year.

The scale of the project remains substantial, requiring more than 9,300 piles and 25,000 cubic metres of concrete. Once operational, the Wales Gas-to-Energy plant is expected to drastically cut electricity costs for Guyanese households and businesses, advancing the country’s drive toward greater energy security and affordability.
