The Ministry of Labour and Manpower Planning proudly participated in the first-ever Men on Mission (MOM) Village Visit, held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Albion Sports Complex Ground in Region Six.

The initiative aimed to bring men together to build stronger families and communities, promote positive role models, and encourage open discussions on men’s health and well-being.

The event featured cricket and dominoes competitions, free medical check-ups for prostate, mental, and general health, as well as assistance from the Ministry of Housing. The Ministry of Labour and Manpower Planning also provided job placement and skills training opportunities for attendees.

Among those present were Chief of Defence Staff and Chairman of Men on Mission, Brigadier Omar Khan; Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, Dr. Josh Kanhai; and Coordinator of Men on Mission, Lieutenant Colonel Bhageshwar Murli, along with other officials.

Launched in 2022, the Men on Mission initiative—an effort spearheaded by His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali—aims to uplift the younger generation of men facing challenges such as drug abuse, domestic and gang violence, and other social issues.

The programme also provides guidance and counselling, promotes recreational and fitness activities, and encourages economic empowerment through temporary employment opportunities.
