Forty-year-old Arun Maharaj, also known as “Pandit Seiko” of East Canje, Berbice, is nursing serious injuries after he was stabbed twice by his father during a confrontation at their Good Bananen Land home on Sunday evening.

Reports indicate that the altercation occurred around 7:00 p.m., shortly after Maharaj returned home to collect a hammock before heading to work.

Speaking with Ignite News, Maharaj explained that earlier in the day he had “a couple of beers” before going home.

While on the veranda retrieving the hammock, he was allegedly confronted and attacked by his father, who stabbed him once in the neck and once in the abdomen.

“So when I walk and go outside now, I notice blood leaking out here,” Maharaj recounted, pointing to his stomach. “My small sister does live in the same yard, so me call she and tell she look what daddy do me here, and she and her husband rushed me to the hospital.”

Maharaj said that although he and his father have had frequent misunderstandings, their disputes had never turned violent before.

“A few days before, he said he was going to set for me because he get some sharpen tools outside in the little pen thing he got outside,” he explained. “But I didn’t take the threat for anything because no matter the misunderstanding, it never get physical, it does always solve and done.”

Police have since launched an investigation into the incident. So far, no arrests have been made, and the suspect remains at large.

Maharaj continues to receive medical treatment as investigations continue.
