A 22-year-old motorcyclist died on Thursday after colliding with a Brazil-registered pickup on the Barrack Retreat Corridor in Lethem, police said.
Barth Paul, of St. Ignatius Village in Region Nine, was riding a Brazil-registered motorcycle (PYP 7J16) west along the southern carriageway when it collided with a northbound Brazil-registered pickup (OAA 8G45) driven by a 46-year-old Brazilian national from Central Lethem, according to Regional Division Nine.
Emergency Medical Technicians transported Paul to the Lethem Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body has been placed in the hospital mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
The pickup driver is in police custody. Investigations into the accident are ongoing.
