Corentyne families receive support in wake of fatal accidents

The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security is providing trauma-focused counselling and emotional support to children affected by recent accidents in Corentyne.

On Friday, 16-year-old Jodea Seline was killed in a traffic accident at Number 63 Village. The ministry’s Difficult Circumstances Unit is assisting her family with funeral expenses and ongoing guidance.

That evening, Paula Nassy, acting manager of the Adoption Department, visited the family in Limlair Village to offer condolences on behalf of the ministry.

The ministry also expressed sorrow over the death of 31-year-old Jerome Bernard on Saturday and confirmed continued support for his family.

The ministry urged the public to show compassion to grieving families, support one another, and exercise caution on the roads, emphasising that patience and attentiveness can prevent further tragedies.
