Ariel Betancourt Ramiel, a 48-year-old Cuban national, was found dead on Saturday with apparent stab wounds on Middle Road, La Penitence, police said.
Ramiel was discovered around 14:00 hrs lying on an access road and was pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, according to a police statement.
Investigators recovered a knife believed to have been used in the attack from a nearby drain. The body was taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home pending a post-mortem examination.
CCTV footage is being reviewed and several leads are being pursued, police said. No arrests have been made.
