75 new homes for women-led households at Yarrowkabra in 2026

Seventy-five homes are set to be handed over in early 2026 under the Yarrowkabra Homestead Programme along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway, as part of the Government’s ongoing housing expansion drive.

More than 250 homes are currently under construction in the initial phase of the project. Of that number, 25 houses have already been completed, while another 50 are expected to be handed over within the next two weeks, Housing Minister Collin Croal said.

The Yarrowkabra Homestead Programme is a targeted housing initiative designed to empower single mothers and women-led households through home ownership and income generation. Unlike traditional housing schemes, the programme provides completed homes along with income-earning opportunities such as shade houses to support household livelihoods.

Introduced under the PPP/C Government’s 2020–2025 housing expansion programme, the initiative is being further developed as part of the administration’s next five-year economic and social transformation agenda. The homestead model is expected to be expanded to other areas as demand increases. (DPI)
