Márcio Rocha, a 46-year-old Brazilian miner, was found dead on Monday morning at a mining camp in Seemang Backdam, Middle Mazaruni, police said. Rocha, who reportedly suffered from a medical condition, was discovered lifeless in a hammock at the camp between 06:00hrs and 12:00hrs.Police visited the scene and examined the body, noting no visible signs of violence.
The body was taken to the Bartica Regional Hospital, where a doctor pronounced him dead on arrival. It is currently at the hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding Rocha’s death are ongoing.
