The newly organised Schools’ Basketball League in Georgetown got off to a strong start on Friday, with organisers and participants praising the atmosphere and smooth execution of opening day games.
League Chairman Willon Cameron described the day as successful, noting favorable weather, enthusiastic support from teachers and parents, and effective management by host schools. “The first day went really well… the environment was nice and we had a lot of teacher and parents out there supporting their students,” Cameron said.
Cameron also commended the performance of new officials, who helped ensure games started on time and ran smoothly.
On the court, Government Technical Institute (GTI) recorded the largest win of the day, defeating Marian Academy 84-38, while Queen’s College beat St. Stanislaus College 66-42. The closest contest saw President’s College edge St. Roses 47-41.
