Police are investigating an assault that occurred on Sunday at First Lady Park in Windsor Forest, West Coast Demerara, after footage of the incident circulated on social media.
Authorities said a 21-year-old man from Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo, reported to the Leonora Police Station at about 1600 hours on Monday, identifying himself as the victim seen in the video.
According to the complainant, he was seated at the park when he was approached by three men who assaulted him and attempted to steal his cellular phone. No property was taken, and the suspects fled the scene in a motor car.
Police said a statement was taken from the complainant and that investigations are ongoing.
