The NTFGL season roared back into life on Sunday at the Lusignan Golf Club as the second tournament of the eight-week league delivered sizzling performances, tight competition, and a leaderboard already shaping into a high-stakes battle. Adding to the excitement, Promotech Guyana Inc. has come on board as a sponsor for the remainder of the tournament series, underscoring the league’s growing profile and the commitment of local businesses to supporting community sport.
Chet “Smoking” Bowling wasted no time in making his mark. He tore through the front nine with a scorching net 30, immediately applying pressure to the field, before following up with a steady net 39 on the back nine to finish with a commanding net 69 and the maximum 10 points for the day. It was a statement round — aggressive, disciplined and executed with precision.
Not far behind, Keshan Bacchus produced a polished net 70, securing second-place points and adding five points to his league total. Mike Mangal returned a steady net 71, good for three points and a running total of six, proving that consistency remains a valuable asset in the early stages of the competition.
Fazil “Iron Man” Haniff battled to a gritty finish to collect two points, while Orson Ferguson rounded out the scoring with a net 73 to claim the final point on offer.
Participation was strong, with 16 players competing on Sunday. The league currently has 18 registered members, with 13 competing regularly, highlighting the growing engagement and competitive depth within the NTFGL roster.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Promotech Guyana Inc. Country Manager Bala Vinjimoor said: “Sponsoring this league over eight weeks underpins Promotech Guyana Inc.’s commitment to supporting institutions such as LGC that cultivate discipline, teamwork and camaraderie among key community stakeholders. The inaugural NTFGL provides opportunities and rewards for consistent performance, which resonates with the values and mission of Promotech Guyana Inc.”
With two tournaments completed and the leaderboard heating up, the NTFGL season is fully ignited, and the race for top points is shaping into an electrifying chase. Bowling is now tied with last week’s winner, Patanjilee Persaud, on 10 points, ensuring the standings remain tightly contested as the league continues.
