A 21-year-old man died Monday after his motorcycle collided with a car on Public Road, #64 Village, Corentyne, police said.
The deceased, identified as Jadheo Bhimsingh, an overseas-based Guyanese from #63 Village, was riding an unregistered motorcycle without a license or helmet when the accident occurred around 1 p.m. Police said the motorcycle was travelling south in the eastern drive lane at high speed when it struck a motor car heading west.
Bhimsingh was thrown onto the grass parapet and suffered multiple injuries. He was transported to the #75 Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The car was driven by a 60-year-old resident of #64 Village. Breathalyzer tests registered readings of 7 and 8 micrograms, and the driver remains in police custody assisting with the investigation.
Police continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
