Minister Croal: 300 Hogstye allottees to access house lots by March

Infrastructure works at the Hogstye housing development in Region Six are 98 per cent complete, positioning more than 300 allottees to access their house lots by early March 2026, Housing Minister Collin Croal said.

Speaking during a recent media engagement, Croal said the government had committed to granting access to beneficiaries in the first week of March.

“The good news is that here at Hogstye, we’re talking about 300-plus allocations. I’ve committed that by the first week of March, because the infrastructure work is about 98 per cent complete, those persons who were previously allocated will be able to access their land,” he said.

Croal added that the government is advancing efforts to clear the housing backlog, a pledge made during its election campaign. In Region Six alone, the backlog is estimated at about 8,000 applicants.

“You still have persons entering the system now, but our commitment is to clear all pending backlog prior to the September elections. That is our first commitment. Once that is addressed, we can move to current applications,” the minister said.

“The pending backlog in Region Six is about 8,000 thereabout, and we are looking to reduce that significantly before the end of this year,” he addd.

Hogstye is one of several housing projects under development in Region Six, alongside works at Moleson Creek, Palmyra and No. 75/76, aimed at expanding access to house lots and modernising the region’s housing infrastructure.
