Slingerz FC looked outstanding in their Elite League Cup debut, obliterating Ann’s Grove with an astonishing 8-0 victory on Wednesday night at the Guyana Football Federation National Training Centre.
Spearheaded by remarkable performances from Darron Niles and Kemar Beckford, Slingerz wasted no time asserting their superiority. Niles struck twice early, scoring in the 12th and 23rd minutes, while Beckford added another to propel Slingerz to a commanding 3-0 lead. The first half ended 4-0, with the team adding another four goals in the second half to complete a comfortable win.
In the earlier match, Santos FC edged past Den Amstel with a narrow 1-0 victory, thanks to a crucial goal from Shakeel King in the 39th minute.
As the competition heats up, the stakes are high: $1,000,000 awaits the champions, $700,000 for the runners-up, and $500,000 for third place. The Elite League Cup continues this Saturday at 18:30hrs, featuring Ann’s Grove versus Monedderlust FC and Western Tigers against Fruta Conquerors FC.
