Riyad Ahmad, 23, of Happy Acres, East Coast Demerara, appeared in Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday to answer charges of dangerous driving and operating an uninsured vehicle.
Ahmad was charged under Section 36(1) of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act for dangerous driving, and Section 3(1) of the Motor Vehicle Third Party Risk Act for driving an uninsured vehicle. He pleaded not guilty to the dangerous driving charge and guilty to the uninsured vehicle offence.
He was granted $40,000 bail for dangerous driving and fined $35,000, or three weeks’ imprisonment in default, for the uninsured vehicle offence. The dangerous driving case was adjourned to April 8, 2026.
