Caslene Toney, 39, a housewife of Long Creek, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, died after she was allegedly attacked on Sunday morning, police said.
Police in Regional Division #4 ‘B’ are investigating the alleged murder, which occurred around 06:00 hrs at Long Creek.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased and the suspect, a 65-year-old welder who lived at the same address, were involved in a common-law relationship and reportedly had a disagreement.
It is alleged that during the altercation, the suspect armed himself with a sharp object and inflicted injuries on the woman.
The injured woman was first taken to the Linden Hospital Complex, where she received medical attention. She was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Police said the weapon believed to have been used in the incident was retrieved and lodged as evidence.
