A one-year-old boy, Talesh Bhudram, died Thursday morning in a fatal accident involving a motor tractor at a residence in Canal #1, West Bank Demerara, police said.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the child’s father, who was driving the tractor, had left the boy sitting on the front step before taking the vehicle onto an access dam adjacent to the home. Upon returning to the yard, he reportedly found the child lying motionless with injuries to the head and body.
Emergency Medical Technicians from the La Grange Fire Service responded to the scene, and the child was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty. The body was taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Home pending a post-mortem examination.
A breathalyzer test administered to the father detected no alcohol. He remains in police custody and is assisting with ongoing investigations, police said.
