Cannabis and cocaine worth $1.7B destroyed

Drugs valued at $1.712 billion were destroyed today by the Guyana Police Force during a disposal exercise carried out under established procedures for narcotics previously tendered as evidence in concluded court cases.
The exercise was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police Fiona Fredericks, Head of the Narcotics Branch, and included cannabis valued at $738,195,125 and cocaine worth $974,383,500.
The Guyana Forensic Science Laboratory (GFSL), led by Dellon France, carried out quality control testing prior to destruction.
The Police Force said the exercise forms part of standard protocols for the safe disposal of narcotics and reflects ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and prevent seized substances from re-entering circulation.
