The Dominican Republic is exploring potential investment in Guyana’s Berbice Block as the two Caribbean nations deepen cooperation under a 2023 Memorandum of Understanding covering energy, agriculture, tourism and petrochemicals.
According to a release, discussions are ongoing through Refineria Dominicana de Petróleo S.A. on opportunities for strategic investment in Guyana’s oil and gas sector.
The talks include investment interest in the Berbice Block, previously held by On Energy, along with broader discussions on regional energy security and future energy collaboration.
The engagement aligns with Guyana’s strategy of strengthening national and regional energy security while positioning the country as a key energy partner within the Caribbean.
The release also noted increasing collaboration between private sector entities in both countries, including efforts to establish partnerships and consortia in agriculture, energy and petrochemicals.
Guyana and the Dominican Republic signed several cooperation agreements in 2023 aimed at expanding trade and investment ties between the two countries.
