US and Iran have reached peace deal as Trump posts ‘let the oil flow!’

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Sunday that the United States and Iran have reached a peace deal, ending months of military conflict that had roiled global energy markets.

“Both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon,” Sharif said.

The deal will be officially signed on Friday in Switzerland, he added.

US President Donald Trump confirmed the agreement. “The deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all!” he said.

Iran had not officially commented at the time of publication.

The conflict began on 28 February when US and Israeli strikes across Iran prompted retaliatory attacks by Tehran against Israel and US-allied Gulf states. Iran subsequently closed the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping route for global oil and gas supplies.
