US$75M Massy Hub to set new benchmark for warehousing and automotive service in Guyana

Massy Group broke ground Thursday on a US$75 million automated distribution facility and automotive showroom in Houston, East Bank Demerara, as the Trinidad-based conglomerate deepened its investment in Guyana’s rapidly expanding economy.

Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation Deodat Indar, representing President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali at the sod-turning ceremony, lauded the company for its confidence in Guyana and pointed to emerging industries — gas bottling, fertiliser plants, glass manufacturing and aluminium smelting — as further opportunities for private-sector investment.

The facility, dubbed the Massy Hub, will include four vehicle showrooms, a 9,000-square-foot administration building, multiple service bays, a body shop, a parts warehouse and a separate tyre, battery and lubricant warehouse. The site will also have capacity to service larger vehicles including delivery trucks, tractors and other industrial equipment.

Troy Beharry, chairman and country manager of Massy Guyana, said the hub was designed to enhance operational efficiency, inventory management and customer service, and would “set a new benchmark for warehousing, distribution and automotive service excellence in Guyana.”

Massy Group president and chief executive James McLetchie said the investment reflected the company’s long-standing ties to the country.

“For Massy, Guyana is not a market we are entering; it is a country we have been proud to grow alongside for almost 60 years,” he said.
