Body of missing teen found

The body of Devanand Balram, 14, called “Whiteboy,” of No. 60 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, was found on Wednesday in the vicinity of the Dukestown Foreshore, Corriverton, Berbice.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery, which was made about 07:00hrs.
The teenager had been missing since Sunday, when he was suspected to have drowned at the Springlands Foreshore.

Family members resumed searching about 06:00hrs on Wednesday, two days into the search, and subsequently discovered the body.

It was found lying face down in a crouched position between several rocks, clad in boxer shorts, and was in an advanced state of decomposition.

An examination of the body revealed no detectable marks of violence.
Investigations are ongoing.
