Police are investigating a robbery with violence committed against a 49-year-old female doctor attached to the Ministry of Health. The victim, who resides at a hostel on Lamaha Street, Georgetown, was robbed of a Samsung smartphone valued at $25,000 on Sunday around 08:30 hrs by an identifiable male suspect.
According to investigations, the victim was seated on a flowerpot inside the well-fenced compound of the hostel, checking her smartphone, when the suspect allegedly pushed open the gate, which was secured by an internal bolt.
He then entered the compound, approached the victim, and allegedly slapped her several times in the face before snatching her cell phone.
The suspect reportedly fled west along Lamaha Street. Several persons in the area were contacted and interviewed as investigations continue.
