Residents of the remote community of Muritaro in Region 10 now have access to enhanced healthcare services following the commissioning of a new health post on Tuesday.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by Health Minister Dr Frank Anthony, along with health and regional officials.
Dr Anthony stated that the facility represents a significant advancement in the government’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare access for residents living along the Upper Demerara River.
With a team of trained healthcare professionals, the minister noted that the facility will be dedicated to delivering quality care to the community.
The Muritaro Health Post will provide essential medical services, including regular check-ups, maternal and child healthcare, and chronic disease management. Additionally, it will offer telemedicine capabilities, enabling remote consultations with doctors or specialists when necessary.
“This initiative aligns with the government’s broader strategy to decentralise healthcare, ensuring that even the most remote communities can access necessary medical services. By bringing healthcare closer to home, we aim to improve health outcomes and overall well-being for the residents of Muritaro and surrounding areas,” Minister Anthony said.
The minister also expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the project a reality and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to serving the community with dedication and care.
