The lifeless body of Delvor Ron Forde, a two-year-old boy from Lot 359 Tabatinga, Lethem, Central Rupununi, was discovered in a septic tank today.

According to police reports, investigations revealed that the child lived with his parents—Naomi Forde, 34, a housewife, and Aaron Bedaysie, 30, a construction worker—along with eight other family members.

The mother stated that at around 17:00 hrs on Thursday, she was in their partially fenced yard washing clothes while her son was playing with his seven-year-old cousin. The child approached her, asking for a bath, but she told him to wait.

Approximately six minutes later, she called for him but received no response.

A search party was organised, and at about 01:20 hrs today, the boy’s lifeless body was found in a septic tank at the back of their home, approximately 15 feet away from where his mother had been washing clothes.

A member of the search party retrieved the body before the arrival of the police.

Upon reaching the scene, police observed a 12×12 ‘manhole’ on the septic tank, which the parents claimed had been covered with a piece of plywood. No marks of violence were found on the child’s body.

The body was transported to Lethem Regional Hospital, where it was pronounced dead on arrival. It was then taken to the hospital’s mortuary, pending a post-mortem examination. Investigations are ongoing.
