The Guyana Police Force has confirmed that preparations are underway for a post-mortem examination on the body of Adriana Younge, as investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death intensify.
According to a release from the Office of the Commissioner of Police, the family of the deceased has identified an independent pathologist of their choice. The pathologist is expected to arrive in Guyana on Sunday, April 27, to conduct the examination alongside the Police Force’s independent pathologist. Authorities have emphasised that the post-mortem will be a critical component of the investigation, providing clarity on the exact cause of Younge’s death.
Meanwhile, the Police Force disclosed that several steps have been taken as part of the ongoing probe. Investigators have already questioned the proprietor and employees of Double Day Hotel and Bar, where the incident reportedly took place. Additionally, a number of ranks from Regional Division #3 have been interviewed.
In keeping with standard procedures, Assistant Commissioner Khalid Mandall, Commander of Regional Division #3, has been placed on administrative leave to allow for a transparent investigation. Three other police ranks are currently under close arrest.
The Police Force said it will provide further updates as the investigation unfolds.
