n armed robbery suspect was fatally shot by police during a confrontation at Camp and Quamina Streets, Georgetown, on Monday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Orandy Samuel. According to police reports, around 7:00 p.m. on April 28, 2025, ranks on patrol responded to a report of a robbery in progress at the busy intersection. Upon arrival, they observed four identifiable male suspects actively robbing Shurlan Critchlow, a 43-year-old security guard.
As the police moved in, the suspects fled in different directions. During the pursuit, one of the fleeing men allegedly drew a firearm and pointed it at a pursuing officer. The officer, in response, discharged his service weapon, hitting Samuel.
Samuel attempted to escape west along Quamina Street but collapsed on the roadway. Police recovered a 9mm Ruger pistol, bearing serial number TVK 99217, and three matching rounds of ammunition next to him.
He was immediately transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) for treatment but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. Police said he sustained a gunshot wound to the left side of his face.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
