Mark Anthony Benjamin, 37, of 36 Norton Street, Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara, was shot and killed on Tuesday evening, during an altercation in his home community.
According to police, the fatal shooting occurred around 18:40 hours on Norton Street. Preliminary investigations indicate that Benjamin and the suspect, identified as Hosea Salmon, were known to each other and became involved in a confrontation.
During the dispute, Salmon allegedly shot Benjamin in the head before fleeing the scene.
Benjamin was later pronounced dead. His body is currently at the Memorial Gardens Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Police say they are actively pursuing the suspect, and investigations are ongoing.
